Rapper Post Malone fell through an opening in the stage on Saturday during his performance in St. Louis and bruised his ribs, his manager said.
“Thank you everyone for all your get well wishes! @postmalone didn’t break 3 ribs last night [sic] thank goodness,” wrote the rapper’s manager, Dre London, on Instagram on Sunday. “We did x-rays at the hospital after the show and they stated he had bruised his ribs!”
Post Malone was performing at the Enterprise Center in downtown St. Louis when he fell.
Concert goer Tana Cantrell told CNN the accident happened about an hour after his performance.
“From my point of view, at the time, it looked like he just collapsed on stage and grabbed the middle of his chest,” Cantrell said. “You could see from his face and body how much pain he was in and that’s when I knew this was serious. His legs were shaking with pain.”
“From other angles you could see there was a hole in the stage that he had fallen through when they lowered his guitar and they didn’t get the floor back in time,” Cantrell added.
After about 10 minutes, Post Malone got up with help from others and went to take a break, Cantrell said. When he returned to the stage, he repeatedly apologized before closing the show, Cantrell said.
Dre London praised the rapper for ending the show “on true Posty fashion”.
“I really don’t know an artist like him,” the Instagram post continued.
On Sunday, the rapper apologized and thanked his fans of St. Louis in a video also posted on Dre London’s Instagram. He corroborated Cantrell’s story that he had fallen through a hole intended to hold his guitar stand.
“We just got back from the hospital and everything is fine,” Post Malone said in the video. “They’ve been giving me painkillers and stuff so we can keep kicking throughout the tour.”
